Jones’ 36 leads ETSU over Lipscomb 90-88 in OT

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Jarvis Jones scored a career-high 36 points, including a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left in overtime, to give East Tennessee State a 90-88 win over Lipscomb on Saturday.

Jones, whose 12 of 22 shooting included 5 of 10 3-pointers, gave the Buccaneers (7-17, 5-6 Atlantic Sun) a 79-77 lead on a trey with 0:17 left in regulation. Deonte Alexander, who scored 16 points for Lipscomb (8-14, 3-8), made two foul shots with 8 seconds left to tie it at 79-79.

In overtime, Jones made back-to-back treys for an 87-85 ETSU lead. He answered J.J. Butler’s late 3-pointer with one of his own, hitting the game-winner with 15 seconds left.

The Buccaneers avenged a 60-56 loss at Lipscomb on Jan. 5.

Martin Smith led Lipscomb with 21 points. Malcolm Smith added 18 and Alexander 16.

ETSU got 11 points each from Lester Wilson, Rashawn Rembert, John Walton and Mario Stramaglia.
