Letter: Foreign aid is small slice of budget

The Columbian
Published: February 1, 2013, 4:00pm

Judging from my email and letters in The Columbian, it seems many people are unaware of the fact that the U.S. spends less than 1 percent of the budget on effective foreign aid programs that give millions access to AIDS treatment, vaccines and food.

It would take a very long time to pay off the debt just by cutting out foreign aid.
