Chaney scores 18 as High Point tops Campbell 58-52

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (AP) — Allan Chaney scored 18 points to lead High Point to a 58-52 victory over Campbell in a Big South Conference game on Wednesday.

John Brown had 14 points and eight rebounds, and Adam Weary scored 10 for the Panthers (12-10, 7-3), who have won eight of their past 11 games.

Darius Leonard scored 12 points and Antwon Oliver had 10 for the Fighting Camels (10-14, 5-5), who have lost four in a row.

High Point outscored Campbell 30-22 in the paint and 23-14 off turnovers. The Panthers shot 46 percent from the field (23 of 50) to the Camels’ 39.2 percent (22 of 56).

The Panthers scored the first seven points of the second half to lead 33-25, but Darian Hooker’s 3-pointer gave the Camels a 43-41 advantage with 9:03 to go.

Derrell Edwards’ 3-pointer put High Point ahead 46-43 with 7:34 remaining, and Campbell never caught up.
