TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A full year of recruiting made all the difference for Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez.

A year after cobbling together his first class in Tucson, Rodriguez pulled together a solid second class with the Wildcats.

Led by quarterback Anu Solomon, Arizona’s 24-player recruiting class was rated No. 27 nationally by Scout.com and 36th by Rivals.com.

Despite a short recruiting period and honoring previous commitments under former coach Mike Stoops, Rodriguez had a decent first class at Arizona before leading the Wildcats to eight wins and a New Mexico Bowl victory.

Rodriguez’s second class features plenty of speed and some much-needed size.

A dual-threat quarterback, Solomon led Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas to four straight state titles and should be a good fit for Rodriguez’s up-tempo offense.
