NEW YORK (AP) — The Mets have signed reliever Brandon Lyon to a one-year deal.
The right-hander spent last season with the Astros and Blue Jays. He went 4-2 with a 3.10 ERA in 61 innings, with a save and 63 strikeouts.
The 33-year-old has played 11 major league seasons with five teams. He has 79 career saves.
The Mets have been trying to make over a bullpen that was one of the worst in the majors last season. They signed veteran right-hander LaTroy Hawkins last week and gave a minor league contract to left-hander Pedro Feliciano before adding Lyon on Friday.
