KRAGUJEVAC, Serbia (AP) — The Serbian Cup basketball final between Belgrade rivals Red Star and Partizan was stopped because of fan violence and will be finished Monday in an empty arena.

The violence erupted in the third quarter when fans invaded the court and hurled smoke bombs during Sunday’s match. The score was tied 43-43.

Violence at sports events is frequent in Serbia despite new laws that include prison terms for those involved and heavy fines for the clubs.

Similar violence marred the Greek Cup final in Athens on Sunday, forcing the game to be suspended for an hour before Panathinaikos beat archrival Olympiakos 81-78.
