ORONO, Maine (AP) — Justin Edwards scored 18 points, the last two on a last-second basket, to give Maine a 66-64 victory over Hartford on Wednesday night.

The Black Bears (10-15, 5-7 America East), who avenged a 68-61 loss at Hartford on Jan. 9, trailed 34-30 at halftime, but rallied behind the shooting of Edwards and Zarko Valjarevic (17 points).

Two free throws by Maine’s Evan Cooper tied it at 56-all with 2:35 left. But two 3-pointers by Valjarevic put Maine up 63-58. Hartford’s Wes Cole hit a trey, however, to cut it to 63-61 with 0:48 left.

Valjarevic made one of two free throws at 0:40, but another Cole trey tied it 64-64, setting the stage for Edwards. He missed a 3-pointer. Alasdair Fraser grabbed the offensive rebound but missed the follow. But with 0.7 seconds left, Edwards tipped in Fraser’s miss to win it.

Mark Nwakamma led Maine with 17 points.
