SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Joel Wright and Deonte Jones scored 16 points apiece as Texas State defeated Seattle 67-65 Thursday night.

The Bobcats (9-19, 4-11 Western Athletic) took the lead for good, 58-57, on Jones’ layup with 2:55 remaining. Matt Staff then hit 1 of 2 free throws and Reid Koenen added a 3-pointer with 1:02 left to cap a 6-0 run and make it 62-57.

A pair of 3-pointers from Chad Rasmussen in the final minute kept Seattle close, but the Bobcats held on to hand the Redhawks (7-19, 2-14) their sixth straight loss.

Rasmussen led Seattle with 18 points. Allen Tate added 14 and Prince Obasi had 11. The Redhawks outshot the Bobcats (48 percent to 40 percent) and outrebounded them (37-28) but were hurt by 19 turnovers.

Texas State, which swept the season series with Seattle, also got 14 points from Staff and 12 from Koenen.
