Southeast Missouri State defeats Austin Peay 86-84

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Corey Wilford scored 19 points to help Southeast Missouri State defeat Austin Peay 86-84 Thursday night, overcoming 30 points by Travis Betran and a double-double by Will Triggs.

Wilford was 7 of 12 from the field.

A.J. Jones scored 16 points, Lucas Nutt had 14 and Nino Johnson had 12 points for the Redhawks (10-6, 2-0, Ohio Valley). Jones and Johnson had nine rebounds apiece.

The Redhawks led 35-30 at halftime in a game with 14 lead changes. At 4:44 in the second half, Nutt made a 3-pointer to tie the game at 68. Jones followed with a layup, and the Redhawks never looked back.

Betran was 12 of 24 from the floor for the Governors (4-11, 0-1). His 30 points included 6 of 10 from 3-point range. Triggs scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Anthony Campbell added 11 points.
