Jasmin Karlous of Camas gymnastics was voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of Dec. 31-Jan. 5 in a vote by fans on Facebook.
Karlous collected 38 percent of the 942 votes cast to beat out Evergreen boys swimmer Jim Nguyen, who had 33 percent.
Karlous won the vault (9.1) and the all-around (34.30) in a meet with Skyview and Hudson’s Bay.
The other nominees were La Center boys basketball player Matt Braaten, Woodland girls basketball player Jessica Flanagan and Ridgefield wrestler John White. Nominees are posted on The Columbian’s prep sports blog at www.360preps.com by Monday. Voting starts Monday and continues through 8 p.m. Thursday at www.facebook.com/360preps.
