VANCOUVER — If you have a passion for the environment and for working with people, you’re invited to become a volunteer leader at Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center.

A volunteer leadership training day is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Columbia Springs, 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway in Vancouver.

The training will include workshops on habitat restoration, how to lead volunteers, outreach techniques and team-building activities, as well as a tour of Columbia Springs. Lunch and a light breakfast will be included.

In exchange for the free training, participants must spend five Saturdays a year helping to lead restoration parties that improve Columbia Springs’ 100-acre natural area. Volunteers also help out at other community events.

Training is free, but registration and a completed online application are required. Apply online at Columbia Springs.
