LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Chris Mazdzer, Erin Hamlin and Julia Clukey head a contingent of 10 U.S. sliders picked for the upcoming luge world championships.

Taylor Morris, in his first full season racing at the World Cup level, joins Mazdzer, who competed at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010, in men’s singles.

Joining Hamlin and Clukey in women’s singles will be Emily Sweeney, who just won the 2013 junior world title, and 2008 world junior champion Kate Hansen. It will be the first worlds for both Sweeney and Hansen.

The doubles team of Matt Mortensen and Preston Griffall and the World Cup rookie tandem of Jake Hyrns and Andrew Sherk round out the U.S. team.

Four of the sliders will be selected by USA Luge officials to compete in the team relay.

Doubles and men’s singles are Feb. 1, followed the next day by the women’s race and the team relay at Whistler.
