MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Augustine Rubit posted his second straight double-double and 11th of the season to power South Alabama past Sun Belt Conference-foe Florida International 60-58 Sunday for its third straight win.

Rubit finished with 13 points and 12 boards, Antoine Allen 11 and Barrington Stevens 10 for South Alabama. Barrington’s third 3-pointer of the game put South Alabama ahead 57-56 with 3:29 left to play.

The Jaguars (11-8, 8-3) stretched their lead to four but a Jerome Frink layup brought it back to one before Dre Conner’s free throw made it 60-58 at the 1:31 mark.

FIU (11-9, 6-5) had a chance to tie it but the Panthers missed their next three shots. Conner stole the ball from Frink on the Panthers’ final possession as time expired.

Frink had 12 for FIU, which had won seven of their last eight games.
