Letter: Light rail is a waste of money

The Columbian
Published: January 28, 2013, 4:00pm

Instead of using utopian dreams about a classy train, how about everyone drop down to reality of how many people actually need or want light rail for daily commuting?

Currently, it is about 300 commuters who take the Expo center MAX after either driving there or taking C-Tran. If they extend the line another mile or two to Vancouver, how many people really would find this slow train convenient and efficient?

Maybe 500, 200 more to park in the parking structures than currently. Others will take it to go shopping tax-free in Oregon or for recreational purposes.

I do not think we should pay millions of dollars for this.
