Akron beats Bowling Green 68-55 for 12th straight

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Zeke Marshall scored 15 points as Akron extended its winning streak to 12 games with a 68-55 victory over Bowling Green on Wednesday night.

The Zips (16-4, 7-0), off to their best Mid-American Conference start ever, remained one of two undefeated MAC teams. They’ll host the other, Ohio, on Saturday.

Akron broke a 9-9 tie with a 14-5 run capped by two dunks by Marshall. The Zips limited the Falcons (7-13, 2-5) to 18.5 percent first-half shooting (5 of 27) and led 28-17 at halftime.

Bowling Green never got closer than seven points in the second half and trailed by as many as 20. Akron shot 57.1 percent (16 of 28) in the second half, when Nick Harney scored all 10 of his points. Demetrius Treadwell finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Chauncey Orr had 16 points for Bowling Green, and A’uston Calhoun had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
