Letter: Obamacare will burden families

The Columbian

I believe families will carry a larger burden with Obamacare. With January 2014 fast approaching, the actual costs of the Affordable Care Act are becoming a harsh reality. An average American family with a private insurance plan may see an increase in costs, and this is only the beginning. As the government could begin to issue fines to insurance providers, employers and hospitals, it is only reasonable to believe that those new costs of doing business will be passed on to the consumer. I thought the intention of the Affordable Care Act was to make health care more affordable.

I commend Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, on continuing to fight to replace Obamacare. We need more politicians like her to stand up for her principles with us taxpayers in mind, and defend us from burdensome legislation like this. In today’s economic climate, many are struggling to keep their families afloat, and any additional costs can be the difference in success and failure.
