Well, the “progressives” have successfully stopped another project. All those local officials in Oregon for whom light rail is the drug of choice have insisted that light rail must be included in a new Interstate 5 Bridge, thus encumbering it with costs and impractical design features which in the end killed the project. With no regard to interstate commerce or the health of local industrial businesses, not to mention commuters, the only thing they could see was their beloved light rail; not even consideration of express bus mass transit, only light rail.
But they have again successfully “progressed” us back in time to an aged bridge that is undersized for the current century and risky for environmental conditions.
They must be happy that they wasted over $100 million and stopped the bridge, too.
