OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Amber Freeman hit a pair of two-run homers and the United States advanced to the gold-medal game in the eighth World Cup of Softball with a 10-3 win over Puerto Rico in five innings on Sunday.

Taylor Thom also homered for the U.S. (3-1), which will play Japan (3-1) for the gold medal Sunday night. Japan beat the Americans 7-4 on Saturday.

Canada (3-1) was the odd team out on a runs-allowed tiebreaker and was to play either Australia (1-3) or Puerto Rico (0-4) for the bronze medal.

Puerto Rico led 3-0 after Charlise Castro’s bases-loaded double in the first inning.

Freeman homered during a five-run third and again during a five-run fifth. She made an awkward turn at first base, appeared to sustain an injury and was assisted around the bases by Puerto Rico shortstop Galis Lozada and third baseman Dayanira Diaz.
