Letter: Fundraising football game praised

The Columbian
Published: July 17, 2013, 5:00pm

I would like the community to know what it missed the evening of July 13. The 11th annual Shriners Freedom Bowl Classic was held in Kiggins Bowl.

This football game is played by graduated seniors from high schools from the greater Southwest Washington area — from Kelso and Longview to Vancouver to Stevenson and White Salmon.

The money generated by this game goes to support the Shriners Children Hospitals. These hospitals are free to those needing their services.

A few great Shriners here locally who started this game have generated well over $70,000.

Please watch the newspaper next year and support this wonderful endeavor.
