LAS VEGAS (AP) — Team USA is bringing a group of fresh faces to Las Vegas this week to start preparations for next summer’s World Cup in Madrid.

Young stars like Paul George, Kyrie Irving, John Wall and Damian Lillard will start a four-day camp on Monday hoping to make strong impressions with Team USA managing director Jerry Colangelo and head coach Mike Krzyzewski. No roster spots will be won this week. And Colangelo says he hopes some Olympic veterans will decide to join the team that will compete next summer.

Colangelo says he’s heard positive feedback that Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Kevin Love are all strongly considering playing next summer.

That would give Colangelo the mix of veterans and newcomers that he thinks will be ideal for the competition.
