WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals have shaken up the roster with six moves, including the return of outfielder Jayson Werth from the 15-day disabled list and the promotion of infielder Anthony Rendon from Triple-A Syracuse.

The Nationals also on Tuesday designated for assignment struggling relief pitchers Henry Rodriguez and Zach Duke and selected left-handed pitcher Ian Krol from Double-A Harrisburg. Second baseman Danny Espinosa was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right wrist, retroactive to June 3.

The Nationals made the moves as they opened a homestand with a sub-.500 record and a seven-game deficit behind Atlanta in the NL East.

Werth has been sidelined since May 2 since with a strained right hamstring. Espinosa was hitting .158, so Rendon was recalled and could become the regular second baseman.
