COOS BAY, Ore. — The Coos County district attorney says he plans to file aggravated murder and arson charges Monday against a 65-year-old man accused of killing his wife and two neighbors and setting their homes on fire near the community of Bridge.
The district attorney’s office says Edward Lawrence Nelson was stopped while driving Saturday night in Douglas County and jailed in connection with the fire and deaths.
The World reports all three victims are believed to have been killed before the fires were set Saturday evening.
The body of 59-year-old Kathleen Nelson was found in her home. Bodies found in the neighboring home could not be positively identified but they are believed to be Renae and Lola Cottam, both 73.
Police and firefighters found the bodies and indications are that the fires were set.
