Letter: Against changing power structure

The Columbian
Published: June 18, 2013, 5:00pm

Regarding the June 16 story, “Washougal eyes changing government style: Council-manager system would shift governing power from mayor to manager,” I am totally against taking away the rights of voters to put the elected mayor in charge of the daily administrative operations of the city.

We cannot allow members of the Washougal City Council to be the sole authority to choose who will lead the city (a city manager, as in the council-manager system of government that is being considered). It is an affront to those of us who take our constitutional voting rights seriously.
