Police say a Snohomish County sheriff’s sergeant has been arrested for providing a chain of bikini barista stands with information about an ongoing prostitution investigation.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office identified the sergeant as Darrell O’Neill, a 30-year veteran of the department, and said he was arrested Tuesday for investigation of conspiracy to promote prostitution and official misconduct.

Officer Aaron Snell, an Everett Police spokesman, says Kent police were investigating the conduct of bikini baristas in March and learned about the sergeant’s activities.

Among the allegations contained in a search warrant affidavit is that O’Neill received sexual favors in exchange for the information about undercover surveillance, and that an owner of several stands gave him a tablet computer to send messages to the workers.

Police said they made several arrests as they raided espresso stands Tuesday in Everett, Edmonds, Lynnwood and Kent.
