INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) — The Cleveland Cavaliers have selected California guard Allen Crabbe with the No. 31 pick in the NBA draft.

The Cavs took Crabbe with the first of their two second-round picks, but there are already reports they intend to trade him to Portland for a pair of future second-round picks.

The 6-foot-6 Crabbe averaged 18.4 points and 6.1 rebounds last season, when he was named the Pac 10 player of the year. He was the conference’s top freshman in 2011 and finished among the school leaders in career points, 3-pointers, and 3-point percentage.

Cleveland general manager Chris Grant wanted to trade both of his second-round picks because the Cavs already have one of the league’s youngest rosters.
