A former Battle Ground Public Schools teacher, principal and administrator will assist Shonny Bria, the district’s superintendent, until her June 30 retirement, Bria announced Thursday.

Bria announced her retirement at the April 29 board meeting after 15 years at the district’s helm.

Duane Rose began teaching in the district in 1965 and has worked as an eighth-grade teacher, principal and district-level administrator, including director of human resources and assistant superintendent. He retired in 1992, but worked at the district office from 1998 to 2005 and again temporarily in recent years.

The district has not determined whether Rose will remain with the district in a temporary position after June 30. Rose’s position and salary will be determined at the May 13 school board meeting.
