CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians claimed outfielder Ezequiel Carrera off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday and optioned right-hander Trevor Bauer to Triple-A Columbus.

Carrera was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Tuesday after batting .077 in 13 games. He was in spring training camp with the Indians and designated for assignment on March 25. Carrera was claimed by Philadelphia on April 2. He has batted .255 with the Indians over the last two seasons in 116 games.

Bauer was the winning pitcher Wednesday in a 6-0 victory over the Phillies. He allowed one hit, walked six and struck out five in five innings.

First baseman Mike McDade, who had been playing at Columbus, was designated for assignment to make room for Carrera on the 40-man roster.
