More than $6,000 worth of tools was stolen this week from a PT boat docked at Portland’s Swan Island during a restoration project, according to a news release from Save the PT Boat.

Volunteers were repairing the hull of PT-658 and kept their tools locked in the boathouse. The tools were taken either Sunday or Monday.

The boat, built in 1945, is the only fully restored PT boat in the world that’s operational and is also on the National Historic Register, the news release said.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Portland Police Officer Bert Nederhiser at 503-823-5700. If you’re able to donate tools or money to help with the restoration, please call Alton at 503-209-8203.
