Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church will host a gathering of local faith communities that want to advocate for lasting change in the state of Washington. The faith summit is set for 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, 12513 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. The co-host for the event is the First Congregational Church of Christ in Hazel Dell, a prominent local advocate of social justice.

The meeting kicks off a series of four regional gatherings that will be held around the state. At the meetings, each participant will have the opportunity to speak about an important issue; then all will vote to prioritize issues for advocacy in the 2014 state Legislature and beyond. After that, participants will develop fun and creative ways to push for change.

These faith summits are organized by a statewide group called the Faith Action Network. More than 60 congregations of different faiths are members of the Faith Action Network, but the summit is open to everyone. The network asks attendees to register, for planning purposes, by visiting Faith Action Network.
