The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington has hired a new clinic director.

As the nonprofit’s clinic director, Praneeti Parjan will direct the medical operations of the clinic, which includes oversight of the acute care medical clinic, vision program, immunization program, flu and pertussis clinics, health screening clinics and emergency prescription assistance program.

She’ll also oversee the transitional diabetes program, glaucoma program and Project Access, a program at the clinic that connects uninsured patients needing specialty care with nearly 300 specialists in Clark County. The director supervises six full-time employees and about 600 active volunteers.

Previously, Parjan was the clinic manager at the Essential Health Clinic in Hillsboro, Ore. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in health care management at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.

The current clinic director, Patrick Callahan, is leaving the nonprofit to attend the University of Washington, where he will attend medical school. Callahan has served as clinic director for five years.
