A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 north of Castle Rock Friday morning sent one person to an area hospital with critical injuries, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn.

The crash, reported at 6:43 a.m., involved two vehicles, a 1993 Suzuki Sidekick and a 1990 Toyota pickup. Both were traveling south when the Suzuki drifted and hit the pickup, sending the pickup into the median, Finn said. The pickup rolled twice and landed in the northbound lanes of I-5.

The driver up the pickup, Alfredo Hernandez-Bernal, 31, of Aberdeen, was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Two other occupants, Santos O Son Cua, 36, and Victoriano Lopez Martinez, 41, both of Aberdeen, were transported to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview for precautionary reasons, Finn said.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be involved in the crash, Finn said. Charges are pending further investigation by the State Patrol.
