INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Schiaparelli won the $73,710 Great Lady M Stakes by 212 lengths at Betfair Hollywood Park on Sunday, giving jockey Joe Talamo his fifth straight stakes victory at the track.
Talamo’s streak began last weekend when he won the Fran’s Valentine, the Marjorie L. Everett Handicap and the Railbird Stakes. He won the American Handicap on Saturday.
Schiaparelli ran 6 furlongs on the turf in 1:08.66 and paid $3.20, $2.20 and $2.10 as the 3-5 favorite.
She has four wins in eight career starts and earnings of $184,184.
Purim’s Dancer returned $3 and $2.20, while Customer Base was another nose back in third and paid $3.20 to show. Mike Smith replaced Garrett Gomez aboard Customer Base after Gomez took off his two scheduled mounts on the card. He has been bothered by body soreness since a racing spill last Friday, but is expected to return Monday.
