Cornell defeats Columbia 24-9

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — James Few threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another as Cornell defeated winless Columbia 24-9 on Saturday.

Few completed 14 of 17 passes for 178 yards, with TD strikes to Ben Rogers and Tyler Bostain. Ivy League-leading receiver Grant Gellatly was a favorite target, catching nine passes for 136 yards.

Cornell (2-7, 1-5 Ivy) took the lead on its opening drive, a 12-play affair that Joe Pierik capped with a 40-yard field goal. Few broke a 3-3 tie with a touchdown run from the 1 in the second quarter, capping a monster 19-play, 80-yard drive that consumed 10:09 of the second quarter. Three times, Few overcame third-and-long to keep the drive going, including a 15-yard gain on third-and-13.

Luke Eddy kept Columbia (0-9, 0-6) in striking range through three quarters with field goals of 33, 32, and 31 yards. Trevor McDonagh passed for 292 yards.
