CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Lucas Beatty threw for 209 yards and a touchdown and the Gardner-Webb defense came up with two late stops to hold off Presbyterian for a 20-13 win Saturday.

After Tamyn Garrick found Arthur Williams for a 19-yard touchdown to pull Presbyterian (3-8, 1-4 Big South Conference) within seven, 20-13, the Gardner-Webb defense forced the Blue Hose offense to turn the ball over on downs on each of the next two Presbyterian possessions to secure a win for the Runnin’ Bulldogs.

Lucas Beatty hit Kenny Cook for a 59-yard touchdown late in the first quarter and Jordan Day hit a pair of short field goals in the second as GW (7-5, 2-3) took a 13-0 lead into the break.

Presbyterian got the ball on its own 28 yard line with 1:38 remaining but its final drive stalled on the Gardner-Webb 20 when Garrick’s pass to Jeremiah McKie fell incomplete on fourth-and-2.
