East Carolina beats McNeese State 91-62

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Akeem Richmond scored 25 in his return to Thomas M. Ryan Center and East Carolina blew past McNeese State 91-62 in the consolation round of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Rhode Island on Monday night.

Richmond was 6 of 11 from 3-point distance to lead ECU (5-1) which was 14 of 26 as a team. Richmond was playing in his first game at Rhode Island’s home venue since transferring from URI to East Carolina.

Paris Roberts-Campbell added 16 points for the Pirates. Brandan Stith added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Caleb White scored 10.

Ledrick Eackles had 19 points and five assists to lead McNeese State (2-4).

East Carolina came into the game off its first loss of the season, an 83-74 defeat at No. 6 Duke. ECU will face UNC Asheville and Rhode Island will play host to McNeese State on Tuesday.
