Mayors give their insight to students

Camas — Future mayors currently attending Pacific Crest Academy, a K-8 Catholic school in Camas, got a lesson in civic engagement on Nov. 22 as the current mayors of Camas, Washougal and Vancouver paid a visit. It was the first time such a gathering has taken place. Camas Mayor Scott Higgins, Washougal Mayor Sean Guard and Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt talked about their roles in city government and took questions from students, teachers and parents. The mayors offered ideas about getting involved in community service, and also asked, was anybody interested in running for mayor someday? Several hands immediately shot up.
