No Vonn on new course; may return in Lake Louise

BEAVER CREEK, Colo. (AP) — U.S. women’s head coach Alex Hoedlmoser remains hopeful that Lindsey Vonn’s ailing right knee will be ready for a return in Lake Louise, Alberta.

Hoedlmoser said Tuesday that Vonn’s presence in the starting gate in Lake Louise on Dec. 6 is “up to her. She’s the only one who knows how her knee feels.”

The four-time overall World Cup champion was supposed to make her return this week from a serious knee injury she suffered in a crash last February.

After hurting her knee again in a training mishap last week — she wiped out going from sunshine into shade — Vonn will sit this week out.

The competition goes on as the rest of the field receives their first glance at the steep course in a training run Tuesday.
