MIAMI (AP) — Tymell Murphy shot 75 percent from the field and scored a game-high 23 points to lead Florida International in a 61-60 victory over Georgia State on Saturday.

FIU trailed by two with 1:08 remaining until Dennis Mavin converted his second three-point play of the game to push the Golden Panthers into the lead. Rakeem Buckles made a layup with 30 seconds left to stretch the lead to three. The Panthers still managed to pull within one after a layup by Ryan Harrow, but he missed his final shot with four seconds to go and Georgia State’s chance of a victory ended.

Buckles pulled in a game-high 17 rebounds and Murphy grabbed 11 as FIU (7-3) outrebounded the Panthers 49-27.

Harrow led Georgia State (2-5) with 21 points and Curtis Washington grabbed 14 rebounds — more than half of the team’s total.
