TACOMA — Moses the 140-pound black Newfoundland was rescued and reunited with his owners Tuesday night after he went over a cliff near Enumclaw, according to the Washington State Animal Response Team.

The group, which helps animals in emergency situations, worked with Seattle Mountain Rescue and King County 4×4 Search and Rescue to hoist Moses to safety.

Friends of Moses organized a search party for the canine on Facebook after he went missing Saturday while hiking in the Mud Mountain recreation area.

The Newfoundland Club of Seattle planned to meet Tuesday morning to search for the dog, who they described as shy.

The said just after 3:30 p.m. on their Facebook page that he had been found, and about 8 p.m. that he had been rescued.
