Livi Cox of Union girls swimming was voted The Columbian’s high school fall athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 28.

Cox collected 41 percent of the 959 votes cast by fans to beat out Brooke Van Sickle of Battle Ground volleyball, who had 37 percent.

Cox was the top individual point scorer in the Sprint Pentathlon at Mark Morris, winning the 25 individual medley, 100 backstroke and 25 breaststroke.

The other nominees were Camas cross country runner Alexa Efraimson, Columbia River cross country runner Austin Blankenship and Fort Vancouver golfer Spencer Tibbits.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Monday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Athletes may be elected athlete of the week once during the regular season, and no athlete can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
