Fort Vancouver’s Tibbits leads 3A district golf

Union's Abellar sets pace at 4A district

Fort Vancouver freshman Spencer Tibbits shot a 7-under-par 65 Monday to lead the first day of the 3A district boys golf tournament at Tri-Mountain Golf Course.

Tibbits leads Columbia River’s Brandon Barnes by eight shots going into today’s final round.

The top six finishers advance to the 3A state tournament in May. Placers 7 through 12 will play in the 3A bi-district tournament in May for a place at state.

The top 18 golfers Monday made the cut for today’s final round. AJ Montes of Hudson’s Bay is third with a 76.

4A district golf — Union’s Eddie Abellar shot a 69 to lead Day 1 at Tri-Mountain.

A tight leaderboard had three golfers within three shots of Abellar.

Brian Humphreys of Camas shot 70. Braeden Campbell of Camas and Ben Gruher of Union each shot 72.
