WESTPORT — The tall ship Lady Washington ran aground Thursday night at the entrance to the Westport Marina.
KXRO reports it was refloated and is sailing to Port Angeles Friday for a hull inspection. If it passes inspection it’s scheduled to leave Sunday for Half Moon Bay, Calif.
The 112-foot sailing ship is a full-scale reproduction of the first American vessel to make landfall on the west coast of North America in 1788.
The Lady Washington and another tall ship, the Hawaiian Chieftain, are operated by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority for exhibitions and educational trips and tours.
