Local dental offices are offering to buy trick-or-treaters’ Halloween candy.

In the Hazel Dell area, Sheron Dental will give kids ages 14 and younger $1 for every pound of unopened candy they turn in. Kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The candy buy-back event is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, and Monday, Nov. 4, at Sheron Dental, 1200 N.E. 99th St.

Gentech Dentist offices in Salmon Creek and east Vancouver will also buy back candy. They’ll give kids 16 and younger $1 for every pound of candy (up to 10 pounds). Kids will also receive a free toothbrush and be entered to win one of three Nintendo 3DS XL game systems. Children must be accompanied by a parent.

The Gentech Dentist buy-back events are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4. Gentech has offices at 14201 N.E. 20th Ave. Suite 1101 and 605 SE 164th Ave. Suite 103.

Sheron Dental and Gentech Dentist will send all candy to Operation Gratitude, which will add the candy to holiday care packages for overseas troops.
