BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer says he’s determined to return from “the most disappointing thing that has ever happened to me.”

Speaking to reporters for the first time since suffering a season-ending knee injury, Hoyer, who led the Browns to two straight wins before getting hurt, said he plans to get back on the field sooner than expected. Hoyer tore his right anterior cruciate ligament on Oct. 3 against Buffalo. It was a devastating injury for the career backup who grew up in Cleveland and was living out his dream of playing for his hometown team.

Hoyer said the normal recovery time on the injury is six to eight months, but he’s shooting to be recovered on the “lower end” of that timetable.

The 28-year-old said it’s difficult having something “taken right out underneath you.”
