Letter: Spending should be within means

The Columbian
Published: September 1, 2013, 5:00pm

If everyone in the U.S.A. was overdrawn on their checkbooks, as our government is, what would our national economy be like? The majority of Americans save money to pay our government each year for taxes. What is our government doing with our money? Let’s take a look.

Our government gives other countries billions every year, and for what? Then there’s pork barrel spending given out in each state just so our politicians can get re-elected? I could go on, but is our government still trying to buy peace, and is it working? Our government borrows money to give out to other countries without much hope for repayment. Why not lend it to them rather than handing out borrowed money? What if you told your children that once they went to work after school they had to help pay your bills also, but our government is doing just that. Our politicians look at us as a cash cow that they can milk us more each year.

Our government needs to be told no more money or expect a decrease in their pay so we can all suffer together.
