LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Clippers have signed rookie Brandon Davies after the forward impressed the club in summer league play.

The Clippers announced the deal Thursday.

The 6-foot-9 Davies spent the past four seasons at BYU, averaging 17.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists as a senior last year.

He went undrafted, but averaged 5.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in five games for the Clippers’ summer league team in Las Vegas.

Davies gained notoriety in 2011 when BYU suspended him for violating the school’s honor code while the Cougars were ranked No. 3. Davies missed the rest of the season, but returned for two more years at the Mormon Church-owned school.
