OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels have recalled right-hander Tommy Hanson from Triple-A Salt Lake and added four others to the roster.

The Angels also recalled infielder Tommy Field, selected first baseman Efren Navarro and right-hander Matt Shoemaker from Salt Lake, and reinstated righty Robert Coello from the 60-day disabled list Monday before opening a series at Oakland.

Right-hander Kevin Jepsen and outfielder Peter Bourjos were transferred to the 60-day DL.

Hanson was 4-3 with a 5.59 ERA in 13 starts for the Angels this season. Manager Mike Scioscia says it’s possible Hanson could start soon to give the five regulars in the rotation an extra day of rest.

Scioscia also says it’s unlikely the Angels will call up anybody else in September unless there’s an injury.
