Letter: How low can opposition go?

The Kaiser Family Foundation completed a study this month of individual Affordable Care Act premiums and participation in 17 states. State-run exchanges and states with federal exchanges were both studied and evaluated. And what do you know? The premiums are lower than expected.

Why then are Republican politicians still trying to defund Obamacare? If the ACA became very popular — better coverage at lower premiums being one indication — that would devastate the so-called Republican brand. So they would actually pull the plug on the ACA before it has a chance to work, and in the process deny health care to millions of Americans.

These cynical conservative politicians, just itching for a showdown over the debt limit, are now planning to risk the good faith and credit of the U.S. government in a desperate attempt to deny health care to those who need it. How low can they go?
