School resource centers win recognition

Vancouver Public Schools’ Family-Community Resource Centers are being recognized by two national groups this month.

The Data Quality Campaign, an advocacy group focused on the use of data to improve student achievement, and the OMG Center for Collaborative Learning, a social-sector advisory organization, will highlight the district’s strategic use of data in its 13 school-based Family-Community Resource Centers providing services and support to poverty-affected students and their families.

The district culls data from several sources to shape programming specific to each center. Then it uses that data to target individual students and families who need additional support.
