Letter: Give it a rest, Lou

The Columbian
Published: April 5, 2014, 5:00pm

It seems like every issue of The Columbian has some comment from Editor Lou Brancaccio about County Commissioner David Madore and/or state Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver. While neither of these two are very good at governing, Brancaccio’s constant complaining about them is getting tiring.

If Brancaccio must blame someone for David and Don, he should blame himself and Stevie (Stuart) and Timmy (Leavitt) and all of the others who tried to force light rail down the throats of the citizens of Clark County. If light rail had been pulled off the table, the Columbia River Crossing might have had a chance. Because Brancaccio and the others did not listen to the citizens of the county, we now have the M&M boys and dandy Don.

There are more important things that need to be addressed. Like millions of barrels of oil and tons of coal that some want to bring into our pristine little hamlet. Find out who is the money behind it and what do they have to gain. Why do they want toxics in our river when salmon and steelhead runs are just starting to return? We already have Hanford upstream leaking radioactive material. Do we really want to add oil and coal to that mix?

Brancaccio created David and Don. Stop complaining about them.
